Painter, illustrator and comic artist
23rd International Festival of Comic and Games in Lodz (PL) is starting on 5th of October, 2012. As usually, ICGF is accompanied with a range of various exhibitions. Big opening is coming on 20th of September (5pm). It will take place in the most awesome, restored industrial building of Central Museum of Textiles in Lodz (Piotrkowska Street 282). This event is organized in the cooperation with Contur Creators Association.
I’m happy to announce that you can see my works (pages from the “Safe Place” story) on one of those group exhibitions, entitled: “Polish female comics” (no connection with Central Europe Comics Art projects with the same title). I decided to show originals, rough pages, no Photoshop – just to pay tribute to my favorite, “analog painting” technique: acrylic on canvas paper.
BTW: it’s a funny thing how women making comics are still considered by many in Poland as something unusual. Nobody is surprised when girls are illustrating books for kids or other publications, but suddenly all over it’s a big deal when you operate with narration and bubbles. I expect there will be a small dispute about it during the Festival. Also, I can’t wait to read Kinga Kuczynska’s work on the subject. Her text is an integral part of the anthology: “Polish female comics”.
