I was always fond of those little details that make the big city more pleasant, more cosy. Those little places, that lure you with the light, especially in winter times, when dusk comes earlier. The picture above presents something very Polish: “bar mleczny” is a place with cheap, simple food, nothing sophisticated, just normal home food, mostly basing on flour, milk, eggs. “Bar mleczny” is a very egalitarian place: a homeless bum, a student, a professor – all of them eat the same dish, sometimes at the same table. If you ever visit Poland I highly recommend eating in one of those places. Try ‘żurek” – warm, nutritious soup. Sour with potatoes and sausage. And “pierogi ruskie” or “kopytka” for wegetarians. Below, a view on the other street, with a pub and a “xerocopy” services (both places are existing only in my head).
