Painter, illustrator and comic artist
Still life was my Father’s obsession. Once he said: “I don’t paint apples or pears for their aesthetics, only for their beauty. As Kapists or Dutch Masters, who praised an object mostly for its visual appearance. I paint for a theatrum, which is created by a range of strange objects meeting on one surface. I choose tin dishes; plates and pitchers, eggs and shells, pyramids and other stuff. I treat an object in a metaphysical way. What I mean is, to give my message – the expression of my paintings – more metaphysical meaning than just an aesthetical one”.
If you want to receive the message, sent to you by Sławomir Karpowicz, the painter and professor at the Academy of Fine Arts, who is no longer with us – come to Pałac Sztuki, at Plac Szczepański in Cracow. You can see his magnificent works till 2nd of March.
